The Yimen Chen Clan, originating in De’an, Jiangxi in 731 AD during the Tang Dynasty, lived together without division for 960 years, earning the title “The World’s Largest Family.” At its peak, over 3,900 members shared one household, renowned for their loyalty and filial piety. However, in 1062 AD, during the Song Dynasty, Emperor Renzong issued an imperial decree to divide the clan. With a single edict, the centuries-old unity was broken, and descendants spread across China and overseas. Today, the Yimen Chen descendants continue to uphold the values of loyalty, filial piety, and unity, carrying forward the family traditions. This video revisits the decree that changed history and explores the enduring legacy of the Chen Clan.
