The Yimen Chen Clan traces its origins to De’an, Jiangxi, during the Tang Dynasty in 731 AD, when Ancestor Chen Wang established the family settlement. For 960 years, the clan lived together without division, becoming a unique model in Chinese history. At its height, more than 3,900 members shared one household, earning the title “The World’s Largest Family.” Renowned for loyalty, filial piety, and virtue, the clan received imperial recognition across dynasties. In 1062 AD, Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty decreed the division of the clan, leading descendants to spread across China and overseas. Yet wherever they settled, the Yimen Chen descendants carried with them the ancestral teachings of loyalty, filial duty, and unity. This video revisits the clan’s Tang Dynasty origins and highlights the enduring cultural legacy of the Yimen Chen Clan.
